✨ Peace be upon you all ✨
Here are five practical steps to recite the Qur’an as it was revealed to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ:
1. Consistent listening with focus: Listen regularly with presence of heart to master reciters such as Sheikh Mahmoud Khalil Al-Husary, Sheikh Abdulbasit Abdul-Samad, and Sheikh Muhammad Siddiq Al-Minshawi — while keeping your eyes and heart on the Mushaf during listening.
2. Imitation and practice: Try to imitate the reciter you listened to, paying attention to the smallest details.
3. Balance between eyes and tongue: Beware not to let your eyes run ahead of your tongue while reciting, as this may cause mistakes.
4. Join recitation and correction circles (Halaqaat): Whether in the masjid or online, recite in front of a qualified certified teacher and learn from the mistakes of your peers. These sessions greatly accelerate learning and mastery.
5. Direct learning from a teacher (Sheikh): Sitting with a skilled, certified teacher is irreplaceable. Oral transmission from the teacher’s mouth to your ears and heart is the authentic way of learning. Allah says: “Indeed, you are receiving the Qur’an from the One who is All-Wise, All-Knowing.” (Qur’an 27:6)
